When I was in my twenties I was required to get my lifeguard license to work a Summer job at a camp for kids. I was a strong swimmer so I thought this would be a no brainer.
Day one I knew I was in for an uphill climb. The course had several different requirements and all of them very difficult.
As a final exercise, I was required to be jump into the deep end of the pool and rescue my instructor who was drowning. My instructor was a man who easily weighed three times my weight and was “panicking.”
I remember thinking to myself there is no way I am going to be able to pull this man from the deep end of the pull to safety. The task just seemed too big.
For a moment, I was going to quit. I knew that if I quit that day it would set a tone for me quitting other task in life when things felt impossible. I told myself to believe and jumped into the deep end of the pool.
I will never renew my lifeguard license lol it was rough. However, there have been several times in my life when I wanted to quit and instead I have leaned on this memory and I just jumped.
Is there a task you are facing that you think is too big and you want to quit Sisters and Brothers? Are you willing to jump into the deep end of the pool instead? It is your birthright to stand in your Spotlight and shine bright.
