Powerful Beyond Measure
Recently, I was reading “Our Deepest Fear” by Marianne Williamson. The title rang true for me.
I could not wrap my head around the idea of being “powerful beyond measure.” I decided to challenge myself, for 21 days in a row I incorporated the line “powerful beyond measure” into my daily meditations.
Week one and two, I was a hot mess. As I recited the words “powerful beyond measure” ”it conjured up my inner villains. They would tell me that it was impossible to be “powerful,”that I was being selfish and to drop the act already.
Week three and four, I became more at ease with the idea of allowing my light to shine bright and my inner villains began to shrink back into the shadows. I began to understand the importance of allowing myself to play big.
Our Deepest Fear
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you notto be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Marianne Williamson
Today, when I ask myself the question “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?” My inner villains typically make an appearance. I remind myself that I have to be my biggest cheerleader. I put on my fabulous “cheerleading” outfit with my initials JG shinning bright in diamonds of course. I tell my inner villains to take a backseat. I dig deep and find the courage to cheer “I am powerful beyond measure!”
