What Do I Want?
I had a dream last night that I attended a memorial service. People kept mentioning how wonderful it was that our friend lived full out. He always knew what he wanted and went for it. In my dream, I kept thinking how amazing it must be to always know what you want.
This morning it got me thinking about when I was growing up. I wanted to date the cutest boy in class and go to prom and I did. I wanted to go to college and I did. I wanted to get a job that paid my rent and expenses and I did. I wanted to get married and I did. All my wants were encouraged and expected by society so it was easy. I didn’t have to think I just had to do.
Today, when I ask myself “What do I want?”I don’t always know. There is no clear finish line like there was when I was growing up. However, I do feel like I am living full out. I am of service and I am living my life purpose. Life no longer has a plan that comes along with instructions. Instead I march to my own drum and I continue to color outside the lines.
What do you want Sisters and Brothers? Are you marching to your own drum?
